Nurture School

At Mitchell House School nurture is at the core of everything we do. As a special needs school, we prioritise emotional well-being, social development, mental health and positive relationships, ensuring every child feels safe, valued, and ready to learn.

We offer a range of targeted nurture programmes, including Nurture in Five, Theraplay, Attention Autism, and Intensive Interaction, all designed to support pupils in developing confidence, communication, and emotional regulation. These programmes help our pupils thrive, both emotionally and academically.

We are proud to be on the journey towards becoming a Nurture UK school, embedding best practices into our curriculum. Our approach is guided by the Six Principles of Nurture:

  • Children’s learning is understood developmentally
  • The classroom offers a safe base
  • The importance of nurture for the development of well-being
  • Language is a vital means of communication
  • All behaviour is communication
  • The importance of transitions in children’s lives

Through our commitment to nurture, we empower every child to reach their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environment. 🌱✨
