About Us
Mitchell House is an Education Authority Belfast Region co-educational special school for children with physical disabilities. Most of our students have an associated learning difficulty to some degree.
I was so happy to welcome some VIPs to school to celebrate our @nurtureuk award π it was a fun day of celebrations! Thanks so much to our guests from @educationauthority, @de_northern_ireland and our other partners for all the cuddles!
I had to listen while Mummy told SO many stories about me, but I have to say there were all true! Iβve been a big part of the Nurture journey and Iβm so proud we got the award π₯³
One of my favourite things to do is to sit up on the knees of my chums. I know who likes to invite me up, can you see how well I can sit in lots of ways? My chums all cuddle me in different ways - I love it π
This week one of my chums told me they have never loved any dog apart from me and when they feel stressed a cuddle for me helps a lot, I feel so proud that my hard work is paying off ππ
Here are some pictures from my class visits in Post Primary this week π
Youβll notice from these pictures that I do more than just give out cuddles, my reading skills are developing really well π€£
This is my very own TEAM RAIA π
I was super excited to introduce my favourite doggie trainer Gary from @assistancedogsni to my human handlers in school this week. We had a whole training session all about me π I was able to show them lots of the things I learnt with Gary during my Doggie School π
I love going out and about with my team to visit their classπΎ. Itβs so important for me that I know I have a handler to look to for my commands - they also make sure Iβm always on my best behaviour π€£
PS a few of my team are missing from this pic, I love them too π
This is what happens when everyone goes home and Iβve a lovely wet slide to play on π€£
What a very busy time Iβve been having! Iβve loved getting to know my new friends in the Ducklings, they were even asking when I was coming back again! Of course I love all my old friends too. Iβve been getting used to my new timetable and learning how to behave for all my new Team Raia handlers!
It was our BIG graduation day today π Me and my 6 siblings were so proud to celebrate all the hard work of training over the last months πΎ Iβm now an official Assistance Dog ππ» @assistancedogsni
We had Doggie School every Friday and lots of practice up the corridors and in the classrooms. Gary, our amazing trainer, deserves a big medal for his patience with us and our humans too! Iβm super excited to celebrate my graduation in school with all my chums very soon.
I even got an extra special certificate for learning how to actually walk and not just sit looking at my Mummy π€£ when I was a little tiny puppy.
I was very happy to see my @wingitbelfast friends Ellie and Ethan at my graduation too π
What a special day π How do you think we should celebrate in school?
This week I was so happy to welcome everyone back to school, my tail was wagging a lot π I think they were happy to see me too, there were a lot of smiles π One of my chums thanked me for my visit and told me that the cuddle had made them feel relaxed π₯° I love my job!
Iβve been in school the last couple of weeks getting ready for the new school year π. I was so excited to go on a big trip out for the staff wellbeing day - can anyone spot me in the group photo? π
The other big excitement this week was my last Doggie School class with my bro and sisters - watch this space for our BIG graduation party coming up very soon! π
